Unlimited God

Putting aside sacred mirrors

My years of practicing Christianity and Soto Zen left me feeling lost. For me, God is presence of consciousness without limit. A creative presence that does not stop creating new change yet will repeat patterns of change to redefine creation. That’s all I can comprehend. The ideas of God and faith among humans are limited to what humans are like. The faiths are mirrors, not telescopes.

I tired of looking in mirrors and accepted the presence of God, without knowing.

There have been times when I have said to those criticizing me for spiritual ideas they found inappropriate, that I cannot tell God what to be. I am too small. What joys I found in churches were expansive ones, but the faith was filled with limits of all kinds. When I turned to Zen I expected more expanse. I found more limits. Largely because the priest teaching me Zen came from a merit dominated background and demanded that the limits remain.

I would not stay within the limits.

I still study the expanses of faith. Because they are closer to unlimited God. But I have no use for sacred mirrors. There is so much more to see.
